We proudly welcome you to the Família Prata website.
As the name says, we are a Portuguese traditional family, named Prata, and we created this site with the ultimate goal of gathering information about our family, our roots and our regular reunions, and making the latter available to anyone who may find it appealing.
We encourage our family relationships and the strengthening of our ties by organizing regular encounters, where we can enjoy very pleasant and irreplaceable moments of conviviality.
The creation of this space constitutes an effort to overcome the geographic distances and to always maintain our family relationships alive, as well as existing friendship relations.
We have been organizing Annual Encounters – Encontro da Família Prata - since 1975 that always occur on the 1st Saturday of the month of September. The Festa da Família usually takes place in a small village named Caféde in the centre of Portugal, near the town of Castelo Branco, which is the origin of our ancestry.
Another successful experience has been the Acampamento dos Jovens Prata, a camping week that was organised for the first time in 1981 and is mainly directed for the family youngsters. This event also takes place near Caféde during the week before our Annual Encounter.
Considering that Portugal is well known for its gastronomy, we also started to organise annual Dinner or Lunch Parties for Family and Friends since 2003. The first one was in Guarda (December 2003), the second in Coimbra (December 2004), the third in Setubal (December 2005), the fourth in Castelo Branco (December 2006), the fifth in Vimeiro - Torres Vedras ( December 2007) and we are looking forward to the next dinner or lunch which will take place near Lisbon still during 2008!
As you may have noticed, the whole site is in Portuguese due to the fact that, for the time being, this space is especially oriented for our family and friends. Additionally, we also want to maintain the Portuguese language alive and preferably spread to all ‘corners’ of the world, reaching some of our relatives who live outside the Portuguese territory.
